Welcome to the National Action Plan Insights Hub, where we are tracking the progress of Australia’s clean energy transition. Our Regional Assessment Process (Version 1) is designed to identify the conditions necessary for accelerating clean industry development in regions across Australia. The insights from this process will guide investment, policy and infrastructure planning to help drive the nation's transition to a sustainable, zero-emissions economy.
Our first insights paper, Powering Up the Hunter, provides a detailed assessment of the region’s readiness for clean industry development, based on the initial results of 19 indicators in the National Action Plan. It outlines the region’s strengths, gaps, and opportunities in areas such as enabling infrastructure, industry capacity, policy alignment, and social acceptance. As a key focus area, the Hunter is positioned to play a pivotal role in Australia’s clean energy future, particularly in the energy, industry and exports sectors.

As the National Action Plan progresses and new regions are assessed, we will continue to release insights papers to share our findings and recommendations. These papers will be updated as we gather further data, refine the process, and incorporate feedback from our growing community of stakeholders. Future insights papers will provide a deeper dive into regions like Gladstone, and focus on industries such as Energy, Industry and Exports.
