Heat Pumps for Heating and Cooling

Efficient, flexible technology for a broad range of settings.

Understanding heat pump efficiency

Gas heaters generate less energy than they use, resulting in an efficiency rating of around 30%. In contrast, heat pumps are 300% to 600% efficient - they use electricity to extract heat from the air, and produce more energy than they need to run on. For every unit of heating and cooling energy they consume, heat pumps generate three to six times as much in return.

Replacing gas heaters with heat pumps

Their efficiency makes heat pumps the obvious choice for heating and cooling our buildings, and increasingly, to replace gas boilers for heating water in both domestic and industrial settings. Our Deploy report recommends deploying 1,500 industrial heat pumps to replace coal and gas boilers in industries such as food processing and paper / wood processing.
