We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive individual to join our team as our new Fundraising Coordinator.
We’re hiring for mindset and capability, not just a résumé. We’re not looking for a polished fundraiser — we’re looking for someone with curiosity to research, discipline to manage detail, and genuine alignment with BZE’s mission to show how Australia can prosper in a zero-emissions economy.
Working closely with our CEO, this role is all about setting her up for success. You will support the CEO to focus on our highest-value donor relationships by managing the research, communications, and systems that underpin BZE’s giving programs.
This is an ongoing, full-time, hybrid position, with a preference for Melbourne-based candidates. However, we are open to considering applications located elsewhere in Australia.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
Your day will be varied and include a diverse range of activities such as:
- Full responsibility for maintaining our pipeline ensuring a single source of truth for all prospects and donor information
- Conducting research on prospects, preparing briefs and memos for various fundraising initiatives
- Drafting various correspondences in the CEOs voice
- Active participation in all things fundraising - events, meetings, projects
- Coordinating stewardship communications — report releases, updates, invitations, improving workflows over time
- Full administrative support for meetings, version control and acquittals
- Working closely with the Communications team to develop and deliver fundraising content and materials.
Please view the Position Description for full details.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
Who you are:
- Highly conscientious — takes pride in getting the small things right, every time
- Takes ownership of outcomes — if it's not in the database, it didn't happen
- Service-oriented — finds genuine satisfaction in enabling others to succeed
- Curious and coachable — treats feedback as fuel, not criticism
- Discreet — handles confidential information with care and judgment
- Internally motivated — energised by the mission and the work itself, not by external recognition or donor-facing visibility
- Team player who is committed to BZE’s vision and proud to be working on making an impact in this space
What you can do:
- Strong written communication — able to draft clearly and adapt to another person's voice
- Competent researcher — can find, synthesise, and present information quickly
- Systematic thinker — naturally creates order, tracks details, follows process
- Comfortable managing up — can keep a busy executive on track without explicit authority
Your experience:
- Familiarity with fundraising or operating in a relevant/transferable position within the not for profit sector
- Managing CRM or database systems
- Prior experience in administrative support, executive assistance, or similar
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU:
- A close working relationship with our CEO, with direct exposure to senior leaders and key donors
- Thorough onboarding and ongoing training, offering rich learning opportunities across fundraising in the climate sector
- A supportive and energising workplace where you’ll be part of a focused, friendly team that celebrates each other’s achievements
- Genuine flexible work arrangements to support your work–life balance
- Five weeks of paid annual leave, including an extended office closure over the end-of-year holiday period
TO APPLY
We’re looking for candidates that show personality, curiosity, and genuine excitement about this opportunity. We want to get to know you and your writing style — after all, communication is a key part of this role — so we ask that your application be your own original work (no AI).
